How Do You Prepare Your Clothes for Moving?

Moving is both exciting and exhausting at the same time.  Moving to a new home means new beginnings.  Although these new beginnings excite us, we also remember what we left behind.  Because moving to a new house will mean leaving our memories of our old house, our neighbors.  In addition to these, another difficulty in moving is, of course, the transportation stage of the goods between the two houses.

Preparing things for transport is as important as carrying them.  After all, we are taking a whole house from one place to another.  Among these items, our clothes have a large share.  Especially if we do not live alone at home, if we are with our family, the clothes of the whole family will require a lot of attention.

How Do You Prepare Your Clothes for Moving?

Of course, this will have some difficulties.  But there are a few details we need to know to overcome.  Afterwards it will be very easy and comfortable.  Let's take a closer look at how to prepare our clothes for moving.

Wash Your Items Before You Start Packing

We will of course pack our clothes before moving them to our new home.  However, before we get into the packaging issue, there is one point we should mention: Cleanliness.  We will put many clothes together in one box.

During the moving phase, it is often not possible to pack all the belongings and move them to the new house on the same day.  Then our clothes will wait in these packages for one or a few days.

In this waiting period, some of the clothes in the packages are dirty and it spreads to other clothes.  Dirt and bad odors on it can cause our other clothes to be affected by them.  That's why before we get to packing our clothes, we need to make sure they're all well washed and clean.  Then we can move on to the packaging stage.

Make Sure All Clothes Are Dry

The waiting time of the clothes we pack in these packages may be one or several days.  There may be mishaps that may occur during the move, or there may be some work that we need to take time off before unpacking our clothes.

During this time, our clothes will stay in the packages, so their condition here is important.  We mentioned that we need to make sure that our clothes are clean before they are packed.  Speaking of washing ready-made clothes, let's talk about drying clothes right away.

Our intensity during the move may push us to be careless in some matters.  For example, because we do not want to get dirty in the packages, we may make the mistake of placing the clothes we washed in the packages without making sure that they are sufficiently dry.

However, we would like to remind you that the moisture in these clothes will smell in the box and this smell will permeate not only the damp clothes but also all the clothes in the box.  This is, of course, an outcome that none of us would like.

If we do not want such a problem to arise in the rush of moving, we should make sure that each clothing is dry enough when placing it in boxes, we should leave the ones that we think are not dry to dry and then put them in the packages.

Say Goodbye to Your Unused Clothes

Most of us have clothes in our wardrobe that we never use and that have been sitting in a corner of the wardrobe for months.  However, even if we realize that we do not use these clothes, it is not easy to leave them.

We give up this separation with the thought that one day I will wear it.  However, these clothes that we never wear may be preventing our new clothes from settling here with the space they occupy in our wardrobe.

In addition, the less things we deal with during the move, the less tired we will be.  While we have made dozens of boxes and are trying to fit things into them, it would not be right to place our clothes that we never wear in these boxes.

Also, moving is a very good time for this business, as we don't normally have many opportunities to completely empty and organize our wardrobe.  Sort out the items you don't use and say goodbye to them.  Also, throwing them away is no longer the only way to say goodbye to these items.

There are many sales sites on the internet.  In this way, you can get rid of the items you do not use, free up space in your closet and earn some money.

Categorize Your Clothes

There is one thing that we must keep in mind while packing the items for moving.  We will reopen and place all these packages in our new home.  At this stage, it will be very difficult to find the clothes that are mixed in the packages and place them in our new home.

That's why it's helpful to categorize and pack clothes in a certain way before packing them.  For example, you can keep sweaters together in a box and pants together in a box.  When settling in your new home, you open the package containing the sweaters and quickly place them wherever you want to place them.

It is also useful during the assembly phase.  While collecting our clothes, we can put what we have in the package where similar clothes are placed, without thinking about which package we will place them in.

Don't Forget To Label The Boxes Of The Items You Packed

It is very important that the packages are in a certain order during the transport.  This benefits us both during assembly, transportation and settling in the new home.  Keeping the items in order during the collection will be beneficial in terms of placing the right items in the right place, as well as understanding the sensitive and fragileness of the items during transportation.

Of course, at the stage when we open the packages and place them in the new house, it will be useful to have the packages labeled so that we can understand what package is in it.  We said above that we need to pack our belongings in certain categories.  Labels will help us to make sure these categories are specific and not to put the wrong clothes in the wrong package.

More Convenient Boxes and Parcels Are Possible

When we go to the packaging process of our clothes, of course, we will use boxes.  In these boxes, we carefully fold our clothes and place them.  However, for example, for suits, packing and transporting in this way may not be the right option.  Some wrinkles are likely to occur, especially if it has to sit in this box for several days.

But there is of course a way to prevent this.  Corrugated wardrobe boxes will be very useful to us in this regard.  These boxes are designed in such a way that we can hang our clothes.  In this way, we can include clothes that we think will wrinkle when folded and that we want to carry in a hung manner.  During the move, our clothes will wait for us here, just as they are in our wardrobe, and no wrinkles will appear.
